The picturesque "Journey through Time and Space" by Lars Reiffers at the Beckum City Museum presents a comprehensive selection of his works from the past 25 years. His themes include still life, nature, museum spaces, and historical paintings.
In his partly large-format paintings, he explores the boundaries of painting in a fascinating way and interprets the medium anew: seemingly old masterly elements clash with modern themes and content - fashionable contemporaries meet in noble museum halls with the supposed greats of history.
His special focus lies in the exploration of nature and its diverse manifestations. His works range from hyper-realistic depictions to abstraction. In a subtle way, he shows how people perceive art and interpret it in their own way. His grand flower cinema also points to the temporal embeddedness and transience of our human perception, where knowledge and arrogance can be closely intertwined.
